Homemade Chocolates Using Oh My! Cocoa Butter
How to make your own chocolate
It's raw, it's healthy, and it's easier than you think
Let's be clear, we are not talking about sweet sugary milk or white chocolate, the healthy chocolate that you can benefit from is the really rich, high quality, low sugar chocolate that contains at least 85% of cocoa. To make such chocolate, we'll need raw cocoa, made from unroasted cocoa beans since the roasting changes the molecular structure, reduces the enzyme content and lower the nutritional value. Unless stated otherwise, commercial chocolate is made of roasted beans. You'll taste a huge difference between the two.
- 1/2 cup Oh My Cocoa Butter
- 1/2 cup organic virgin coconut oil
- 1/2 cup raw organic cocoa powder
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup agave syrup ( organic honey or raw cane sugar are ok too) for sweetening. Sweetening is optional but the kids will prefer.
That's the basic ingredients, following your taste you can add pretty much anything you like, dried berries, raisins, crushed nuts, almonds, seeds, chili powder, vanilla for example.
Oh My! Cocoa Butter Is professionally manufactured in a F.D.A. regulated Food Grade facility in the United States. Our Cocoa Butter is organic and unrefined, completely edible and Kosher certified.
Grate 1/2 cup of cocoa butter. It will melt easier when grated. Measure 1/2 cup of organic virgin coconut oil.
Place cocoa butter and coconut oil in a heat proof cup or bowl. Place the bowl in a shallow pan containing some warm water, not boiling but almost. Stir oil and butter until smooth.
Measure 1/2 cup of cocoa powder. If you decided so, now is the time to add any other dry ingredients, use discernment to measure them out, and stir them with the cocoa powder.
Pour the dry ingredients in the bowl with melted oil and butter. Stir continuously until smooth.
If you want to sweeten the chocolate, it's now time to pour the sweetener into the mix and stir. Don't add too much, you will be invited to adjust at Step 6.
Check if the chocolate is sweet enough. At this point you can also add the rest of the extra ingredients to fit your taste.
Pour the melted chocolate on a pan / plate / ice cube tray. For decoration, you can also drop some of the additions on top of the chocolate. Place chocolate for 30 minutes in the freezer or 60 minutes in the fridge.
Time to enjoy and to share. All will be astonished by how delicious REAL chocolate is.
